How ZUNOA™ handles website information, patient check-in details, consent records, and text messaging information.

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Who we are

ZUNOA™ is operated by Zunoa, Inc., with registered address 42 Valley Drive, Barrington, IL 60010. Zunoa provides emergency department check-in and patient messaging services for participating hospitals.

This policy covers our public website and information processed through Zunoa stations. Patient health information is handled on behalf of the hospital under the hospital's agreement with Zunoa. The hospital's privacy notice also applies to your care.

Information we collect

Website visitors: when you request a pilot or contact us, we collect the information you submit, such as your name, organisation, role, work email, optional phone number, capacity challenge, and how you heard about us. Please do not include patient or clinical information in a website request.

Patients: when you use a Zunoa station, we process your mobile number, check-in details such as name and date of birth, station and hospital identifiers, messages, delivery information, and consent records, including the consent wording version and time. Information recorded by authorised staff may also be part of your encounter record.

Our website and service providers may process technical information needed to serve pages, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot, such as connection and browser information. No website analytics scripts are currently included in the site. Any future marketing analytics must stay off patient and staff pages.

How we use information

We use website requests to respond to enquiries and discuss pilots. We use patient information to provide check-in, connect you with your care team, send requested visit updates, support follow-up, record consent and opt-outs, and maintain service and audit records on behalf of the hospital.

We use technical information to operate and protect the service. Patient details should not be sent through public website forms.

Text messaging (SMS)

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Information may be shared with service providers, such as our messaging carrier, only as needed to deliver the service, not for their marketing or promotional use. Service delivery requires the destination number and message to be processed by the messaging provider. We do not sell mobile information or SMS consent.

Zunoa Patient Messaging sends check-in links and visit-related updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help. Texting is not for emergencies: tell ED staff or call 911.

When information is shared

Patient information is available to authorised hospital and Zunoa personnel who need it to provide the service. Service providers receive information only as needed to operate the service under the applicable agreement. Information may also need to be disclosed where required by law. Mobile information is not shared for marketing or promotional purposes.

Retention

Patient records are retained according to the hospital's agreement with Zunoa and applicable legal requirements. The specific retention and deletion schedule must be confirmed: [ZUNOA RETENTION POLICY]. This schedule must also address website requests, messages, consent records, and audit records.

Opting out of texts stops messaging; it does not automatically delete your hospital encounter or the consent and opt-out record.

Security

Zunoa uses access restrictions and audit records to limit access to patient information and track service activity. No website or messaging service can promise complete security. Ordinary SMS can be visible to anyone with access to your phone, so do not text diagnoses, test results, or other sensitive clinical details.

This policy does not claim HIPAA certification or any specific security certification.

Your choices and rights

You can decline optional text messaging or reply STOP to stop texts. For requests about access to, correction of, or deletion of patient information, contact your hospital. The hospital determines what can be provided under its obligations and applicable law. For website information requests or help reaching the appropriate contact, contact support@zunoahealth.com.
